A health scare provided an unanticipated and unconventional path to entrepreneurship for Generation Green owner Sherry Sobey.

For Cheryl Zealand, inspiration arrived in a pot of cold oatmeal. At the time, her twins were 2 and her older child was 7 years old. With the children’s needs pressing, the oatmeal she’d made earlier in the day had been forgotten.

There’s no better way to embrace the holiday spirit than taking a seat for a performance of The Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s perennial favourite, The Nutcracker.

Before moving to The Good Will Social Club at 625 Portage Ave. in January, Randy Khounnoraj and Korene McCaig operated Khao House, a 10-seat restaurant they opened in their West Broadway home in 2016.

When you first enter Hollow Reed Holistic, the scent of frankincense envelopes you first, before you take in the warm wood grain furnishings with accents of black, and the tidy apothecary shelves filled with vials of essential oils and packages of dried herbs.
