The jam-packed festival lineup includes industrial techno to ambient and experimental sets with DIY electronics. If you haven’t listened to experimental music before, it’s a chance to be introduced to new styles and artists.

“It’s not as scary as people think,” said Ben Jones, the program and operations manager for Forth, who said people may have the impression that it’s intense, aggressive or even grating as artists push boundaries.

“It can be thoughtful and calculated with moments of beauty.”

Talks and workshops will also be held throughout the weekend by participating artists.

Forth’s multi-use space is a hub for people to share their thoughts, ideas, talents and art. Forth owners Paul and Jen Nikkel, and artistic director Wouter Jaspers have always seen the space as facilitating art, music, culture and connections, said Jones. It’s also a place to stop for in-house roasted Dogwood coffee in the street-level café, or a cocktail in the basement bar, open Tuesday to Saturdays from 4 p.m. to late.

We don’t gauge our success on how much money we make, or how many people were in attendance. It could be five people who make meaningful connections – the birth of community made in a comfortable space where we can engage and share success.

Forth offers compartmentalized event spaces from 800 to 3500 sq. ft., accommodating everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale events. Beginning February 8, a gallery will be converted into a popup pinball arcade, featuring 20-plus vintage and modern pinball machines. The easiest ways to keep up with Forth events is through their Facebook page or the calendar at www.forth.ca.
